Futurama S01E01 Reaction Paper

Futurama is a show created by Matt Groening. The story revolves around Fry who is frozen in cryogenic chamber and finds himself in December 31, 2999. Fry then later meets characters like Leela, Bender and the Professor then have the silliest of adventures. The main plot of the show is to see how Fry adapts to the new era. The pilot episode of Futurama sets it all up by bringing Fry to the future and experience the changes to the world he once new.

The show brought up interesting things about the future like cryogenic sleep, space travel, heads of celebrities and important figures and much more. Seems reminiscent of the future our parents probably expected when they were still younger where science and technology is so advanced that it really differs from what we know today. Shows that the world is continually changing and we still have only scratched the surface of what we really know and understand. Science is young but eventually it will develop. There are so many possibilities that could happen it gets me excited just thinking about it. Would the rate of the development of science though equal the rate of me growing older? I doubt I'll reach this future but maybe I could witness the beginnings of it.

The way Fry went to the future is through cryogenic sleep where he was frozen until a certain date. I wouldn't say it's time travelling but more of a way pausing your life to hopefully wake up to a better future. This idea has been explored in movies but I'm not particularly sure if it's been done as of today. It's not the same way of time travelling where we choose a date and instantly we're there and we can somehow go back. That time travelling helps you witness past and future events but it could have dire consequences when you go back to the future. Cryogenic sleep however it's you who adapt to the changing times because obviously there is no going back.

I'm sure as I watch more Futurama episodes, the science and technology shown in the future would be made more clear and exciting for viewers.
